It’s been a tough season for Purdue defensive end George Karlaftis, but it just got worse.

Purdue announced on Tuesday afternoon that Karlaftis has tested positive for COVID-19 and is isolating.

Due to Big Ten policy, he won’t be able to return to game action for 21 days. That means he will miss Purdue’s final three regular season games against Rutgers, Nebraska and Indiana.

Karlaftis would be eligible to return for championship weekend.

Karlaftis has only played two games so far this season. He suffered an injury against Illinois and missed subsequent games vs. Northwestern and Minnesota. He has four total tackles and two sacks this season.

As a freshman in 2019, Karlaftis recorded 17 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks for the Boilermakers.

Purdue will host Rutgers on Saturday at 4 p.m. ET.
