After the first edition of this year’s College Football Playoff rankings, there’s some heavy debate in the national media about Ohio State’s position.

The undefeated Buckeyes (4-0) are fourth behind Alabama (7-0), Notre Dame (8-0), and Clemson (7-1).

FOX analyst Joel Klatt vehemently disagrees with placing Clemson ahead of Ohio State. Klatt believes the voters punished Ohio State for last week’s close victory against No. 12 Indiana.

Prior to last week, Ohio State had beaten every team by at least double digits. The Ohio State offense has scored at least 38 points in every game.

Meanwhile, Clemson’s offense has scored at least 40 points five times. Clemson’s lone loss came against Notre Dame without starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Clemson’s game last week was postponed due to COVID-19 concerns at Florida State.

Ohio State is looking to make amends for last season’s loss to Clemson in the semifinals and capture the B1G’s first national title since they won the inaugural CFP in 2015.

This week, Ohio State travels to Illinois and Clemson hosts Pitt.
