Ohio State opened its basketball season in incredible fashion

The Ohio State Buckeyes basketball program isn’t as good as their football counterparts, but they’ve held their own over the years.
The 2020-2021 campaign opened up with an operation rolling thunder-like onslaught for the top 25 ranked Buckeyes, as they poured in 22 points before their opponent, the Illinois State Redbirds, managed a single bucket.
The score was made 20-0 by freshman forward Zed Key, a 6-foot-8-inch behemoth out of Bay Shore, New York, who collected his first college points on a dunk with a foul that fired up his teammates and would have brought the home fans to their feet—had there been any in the building. The Covid-19 virus has forced arenas to remain empty, at least to open the season.

Ohio State went to the half with a commanding 42-25 lead over the out-classed Redbirds, who didn’t have an answer for the Buckeyes scoring machine in the first half. CBS Sports has picked Ohio State to finish fifth in a deep and ferociously competitive Big Ten.
