Ohio State basketball player Seth Towns was involved in a “minor” car accident prior to the Buckeyes’ season-opening win over Illinois State on Wednesday.

That news was relayed from a team spokesman to reporters.

Towns, who is a transfer from Harvard, arrived at the game late due to the incident but appeared on the bench.

According to coach Chris Holtmann, Towns is still recovering from a knee injury and would not have played in this game anyways.

In two years at Harvard, Towns averaged 14.2 points and 5 rebounds per game. He was also efficient from deep, hitting 41.9 percent of his 3-point attempts on 4.2 threes per game.

Towns is expected to be a contributor for Ohio State once he’s healthy.

The Buckeyes defeated Illinois State 94-67 to open their season. Forward Justice Sueing led the way with 19 points and 8 rebounds.

Ohio State will face UMass Lowell on Sunday.
