Ohio State basketball player Seth Towns was involved in a “minor” car accident prior to the Buckeyes’ season-opening win over Illinois State on Wednesday.
That news was relayed from a team spokesman to reporters.

Towns, who is a transfer from Harvard, arrived at the game late due to the incident but appeared on the bench.
According to coach Chris Holtmann, Towns is still recovering from a knee injury and would not have played in this game anyways.
New walk-on Jansen Davison is now in for Ohio State. That’s 13 of the 14 players on the roster. The only player not to play today is Harvard transfer Seth Towns, who is recovering from a knee injury. Holtmann did not have a timetable for Towns’ return.

In two years at Harvard, Towns averaged 14.2 points and 5 rebounds per game. He was also efficient from deep, hitting 41.9 percent of his 3-point attempts on 4.2 threes per game.
Towns is expected to be a contributor for Ohio State once he’s healthy.
The Buckeyes defeated Illinois State 94-67 to open their season. Forward Justice Sueing led the way with 19 points and 8 rebounds.
Ohio State will face UMass Lowell on Sunday.
