The Michigan State Spartans have officially announced who their starting point guard will be in their game against Eastern Michigan tonight.

The battle was between Rocket Watts and Foster Loyer and the Big Ten Network showed that Loyer won the matchup as he was in the starting lineup.

Joshua Langford, Aaron Henry, Thomas Kithier, and Joey Hauser are the rest of the starting five for the Spartans Wednesday.

Loyer was able to win the battle over Watts despite not having as many points per game as him. Loyer only averaged 2.9 points per game for the Spartans last season but he did shoot nearly 45 percent of the field. In contrast, Watts averaged nine points per game for Michigan State but only shot about 39 percent from the floor.

Though Loyer starts, expect to see healthy doses of Watts on Wednesday and throughout the season as he will be a key sixth-man for the Spartans.
