Minnesota continues to grapple with an outbreak of COVID-19 within the football program as the Gophers announce the addition of 10 new positive tests on Wednesday. Andy Greder with Pioneer Press shared the announcement.
Those 10 positives bring the total number to 25 in six days. Minnesota had previously announced 15 positives when the program announced the cancellation of Saturday’s game with Wisconsin.
According to Greder, the increase in positives – coupled with the 21-day mandated absence from competition for the B1G – means Minnesota’s next game could also be in jeopardy. That game is currently slated for Dec. 5 vs Northwestern.

As most fans likely remember, Wisconsin experienced multiple days of increased positive tests and missed two straight games when the Badgers dealt with their outbreak. It’s also worth noting that Maryland canceled two straight games after its outbreak before resuming practices this week.
Around the B1G, Ohio State is also reportedly dealing with positive tests that could force the cancelation of Ohio State’s game against Illinois. The Buckeyes are expected to update the status for Saturday’s game on Thursday.
