Illinois basketball accomplishes feat that hasn’t been done in decades

The Illinois basketball team officially made history today as they are the first ranked team since 1989-1990 (Oklahoma) to win their first two games by 55 or more points.
This stat comes from ESPN’s Jeff Borzello’s Twitter:
Via @ESPNStatsInfo: Illinois is the first ranked team since 1989-90 Oklahoma to win its first two games by at least 55 points each. And the last top-10 team to do it was 1972-73 NC State, which finished undefeated that season.

In their first game, Illinois whooped North Carolina A&T 122-60, and then earlier today, they demolished Chicago State 97-38.
In today’s game, Ayo Dosunmu led the way for Illinois with 22 points, six rebounds, and seven assists. Andre Curbelo, Kofi Cockburn, Trent Frazier, and Adam Miller also scored double figures for the Fighting Illini today.
On Wednesday, Donsumu and Miller led the way with 28 points each.
This hot start has the Fighting Illini 2-0 on the season going into their next game against Ohio tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. ET.
