Hutcherson sat out last season due to NCAA transfer rules. He averaged 15.7 points per game in two seasons with Wesleyan.
For the time being, the Illini are doing fine without him — they’ve won back-to-back games by 59+ points.
Illinois defeated North Carolina A&T 122-60 on Wednesday. On Thursday, they beat Chicago State 97-38.
Preseason All-American Ayo Dosunmu is averaging 25 points per game so far. True freshmen Adam Miller and André Curbelo have also been very impressive.
The Fighting Illini will face Ohio on Friday, but bigger tests are coming. Underwood’s squad is scheduled to play No. Baylor and No. 9 Duke in early December.
