They say that age is just a number.
Josh Whitman is a 37-year-old former tight end-turned Illinois athletic director. And apparently, he hasn’t lost his soft hands.
Whitman, who enters his first full season as Illinois AD, was on hand for the Illini’s first fall practice of the Lovie Smith era. Naturally, he tested out the jugs machine.
He’s still plenty capable of catching the quick-hitters.

For the record, jugs machines are harder than they look. Catching several in a row from that close of a distance isn’t easy, but Whitman made it look like it was.
It’s too bad that he doesn’t have any eligibility left.
