Chris Jones is coming home.

The former DeMatha Catholic receiver is reportedly transferring to join the hometown Terps, according to 247sports’ Ahmed Ghafir.

Jones originally signed his letter of intent to join Wisconsin in 2014, but he couldn’t meet academic standards and he never enrolled in Madison. The 6-3 wideout then transferred to Toledo, but he never played there.

He has three years of eligibility left, and he’ll be eligible immediately.

“I’m excited, man,” Jones told 247sports. “Why Maryland? It’s simple: it’s close to home. What they can offer on and off the field was perfect for me and it just made sense from day one. It was a long process for me, but I’m glad it’s Maryland.”

Jones originally picked Wisconsin partially because of his relationship with then-Badgers assistant Chris Beatty. But now that Beatty is on DJ Durkin’s staff at Maryland, the choice became clearer to return to the DMV.

He’ll join a unit that got multiple upgrades this offseason. The Terps added New Mexico State graduate transfer Teldrick Morgan, as well as four-star 2016 receiver Tino Ellis.

All three new faces could provide an immediate impact for a group that didn’t have a receiver exceed 425 yards in 2015.
