With Purdue trailing 13-7 against Rutgers, they had the Scarlet Knights pinned inside their own five-yard-line on third down. On that play, the Boilermakers got a safety to cut the lead to 13-9.

It was also Purdue’s first safety since November of 2016:

Defensive lineman Branson Deen got the safety for the Boilermakers and he was having a decent season coming into this game. He had only appeared in three games but he has recorded seven total tackles (four solo). This was his first safety of his collegiate career.

The play got Purdue right back into the game as the Boilermakers would wind up scoring a touchdown to take the lead right after. Shameen Jones got his second receiving touchdown of the game and the score is now 16-13, Purdue.

The game is currently being shown on FS1.
