Knight Commission says FBS football should abandon NCAA, create new governing entity

Earlier today, it was announced that The Knight Commission has officially called for an organization separate from the NCAA to oversee FBS football.

As the statement also says, the commission wants the new organization to conduct all FBS football operations, including the national championship.
The commission also has some recommendations on how to restructure some college athletics governance, according to Higgins:

It should be noted, however, that The Knight Commission has no actual power so none of these ideas are likely to happen unless bigger organizations support them.
With that said, it’s still interesting to see some new ideas being floated around FBS football and who should oversee it.
