It appears Nebraska may be getting back a key piece to its run game ahead of Saturday’s game against Purdue.

During warmups, Huskers running back Dedrick Mills was out on the field with his fellow running backs. This comes after Mills missed the past two games.

This is not an official decision about whether Mills will play or not, but it surely seems like a good sign for a Husker team that can use all the help it can get to try and build some momentum heading into next season.

Mills has not been seen since the first half of the Penn State game three weeks ago. Mills, a senior out of Waycross, Georgia, had been the main ball-carrier for Nebraska prior to his injury.

In the game against the Nittany Lions, Mills had just three carries for 11 yards before departing the game. His best performance of the season came against Northwestern when he ran 19 times for 59 yards. He has yet to score a rushing touchdown this season.

At this point, the Huskers’ goal for 2020 is to get things going in the right direction so they can take a step forward in 2021. If Mills’ return can help that goal, it’s certainly a win for Scott Frosts’ squad.
