Chase Winovich may get more opportunities in coverage after making plays like this!
The former defensive end for the Wolverines is now in the NFL with the New England Patriots. He was a solid contributor as a rookie and has carved out a starting role for himself in his second season.
During Sunday’s game against the Chargers, Winovich was also able to record his first career interception. It came on a play where he dropped into coverage as the play called for before flashing instincts and breaking on the ball.
Winovich’s positioning was key, but he broke on the ball with moves that looked like he was a coverage linebacker instead of a traditional pass-rusher. Check it out:

Along with his interception, Winovich entered Sunday with 3.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and 35 total tackles. He put up 5.5 sacks as a rookie and 10 QB hits.
It’s good to see Wino making some strong plays in the NFL after his run in Ann Arbor.
