Indiana AD Scott Dolson discusses B1G’s rule change, indicates how he voted

Indiana has been remarkable all season long, but this week has not been kind to the Hoosiers.
Earlier in the week, Indiana and Purdue both announced that the two sides were mutually agreeing to a cancellation of the Old Oaken Bucket contest. Both teams have paused team activities due to COVID-19 issues.
Beyond that single game, the Hoosiers and the rest of the college football world received word Wednesday that the B1G was removing the previous six-game rule it established at the start of the season. In doing so, the conference placed Ohio State at 5-0 in the conference title game ahead of Indiana who has played seven games this season.
On Thursday, AD Scott Dolson addressed the decision during his radio show appearance. He also confirmed that he did indeed vote against the rule change, though he ultimately understood the decision.
Here are all of Dolson’s comments, courtesy of Jon Blau with the Herald Times:
IU AD Scott Dolson confirms he voted against the rule change that allowed OSU in the title game.
"Obviously we wanted it for our team, we were hoping there wouldn't be a change. … I voted against the change, I wanted it for all of us." #iufb

Dolson on rationalizing the rule change:
"One of the things that helped me, I really believe .. if the situation were different, if we were in Ohio State's position, and we hope we are at some point, I'd argue like crazy we deserved to be in that game." #iufb

IU AD Scott Dolson on moving foward from the Big Ten title game and everything else:
"I'm hopeful we can play on New Year's Day or a New Year's Six Bowl and be in a position we haven't been in in a long time."
Said IU will keep "chopping wood." #iufb

For now, the Hoosiers will wait and see who they draw in Champions Week. Hopefully Tom Allen and company are at least rewarded with a top bowl game this year.
