Originally, a Pitt blog planned on selling “Joe Knew” T-shirts ahead of the Sept. 10 showdown against Penn State. That obviously referenced the role the late Paterno played in the cover-up of Jerry Sandusky’s sexual abuse scandal.

On second thought, yeah, that was a horrible idea.

“The Point 412” announced that following the backlash to Wednesday’s announcement of the shirts, it would not be selling those anymore and that all orders were canceled:

Well, what exactly did they think was going to happen?

The insensitive shirts would’ve likely caused quite the stir at the intrastate showdown at Heinz Field, and Sandusky’s victims would’ve been naturally outraged at the attempt to mock the situation.

Whether you still support Paterno or not, let’s hope that’s the last time you’ll see that image.
