Saturday’s Rutgers-Maryland game doesn’t have much consequence when it comes to bowl placement or Big Ten Championship game contention. But these two teams are still duking it out.

One Scarlet Knight defensive back showed off his defensive prowess in the first quarter of the game. With a pass deflecting off a Terp receiver’s hand, Rutgers defensive back Naijee Jones scooped up the pass for his first career interception.

A really nice play from Jones as that ball made an odd deflection off of the Maryland wide receiver. It seemed like a miscommunication on the Terps’ end, which is understandable as starting quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa is not playing for an undisclosed reason.

It’s a big moment for Jones, who now has an interception in his college career. The redshirt junior did not start a game for the Scarlet Knights until this season when he did so against Penn State last week. He finished that game with two tackles and assisted on a sack.
