This ref might be a little sore in the morning.
During the Michigan State-Penn State game on Saturday afternoon, an official caught the brunt of a tackling attempt by Spartans defensive end Michael Fletcher.
Here’s the play:

Ouch!
For context, Fletcher is listed at 6-foot-6, 250 pounds. Excluding offensive linemen, he’s the second biggest guy on the team only behind 6-foot-7, 260-pound tight end Adam Berghorst. Not ideal for the ref!
Thankfully, the official appeared to be OK and got to his feet rather quickly.
As for the game itself, Michigan State leads 21-10 at the half. Backup quarterback Payton Thorne threw three touchdown passes before the break, including two caught by Jalen Nailor.
Michigan State holds the all-time season series 17-16-1. Penn State won this game a year ago.
