Iowa RB Tyler Goodson scores 80-yard TD run to seal win over Wisconsin

Iowa running back Tyler Goodson was already having a decent day, but he capped it off with an 80-yard touchdown run to put the Hawkeyes’ lead out of reach against rival Wisconsin.

Here’s the run, which gave Iowa a 28-7 lead. That would go on to become the final score.

 

This run came just one play after Wisconsin quarterback Graham Mertz threw an interception in the end zone on fourth down.

This victory snaps a four game losing streak in this series to the Badgers. Wisconsin had also won seven of the last eight vs. the Hawkeyes.

Wisconsin has had a nightmare season since opening the 2020 Big Ten campaign with a victory over Illinois. The Badgers have dealt with injuries and COVID-19 as much as anyone in the conference, especially on the offensive side of the ball.

Wisconsin’s lone touchdown in this game broke a drought of nine straight quarters without finding the end zone. It was off a short field, too, as the Hawkeyes had just muffed the punt.

For Iowa, Kirk Ferentz’s team is one of the hottest in the country. Iowa has won six straight games, including five by double digits. Depending on what happens in the Big Ten and across the country next weekend, the Hawkeyes could get into position for a NY6 bowl game.
