Despite recent travails on the football field, including their fourth straight losing season in 2020, Nebraska has signed to a letter of intent Thomas Fidone, a 4-star tight end and the highest rated target on their recruiting board.
The school made the announcement via Twitter on the first day of the sport’s Early Signing Period.

Fidone played his high school ball at Lewis Central in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The 6-foot-5-inch, 225 pound pass catching tight end was rated the best prospect at his position in Iowa, and the 88th best overall by 247 Sports, but was not offered by the in-state Hawkeyes and is leaving to play for their Big Ten West rival in Nebraska.
The Cornhuskers currently have the 7th ranked class in the Big Ten and 23rd ranked class nationally, per 247 Sports. Fidone will have an opportunity to compete for a team in need of offensive production as third year head coach Scott Frost tries to improve on his rough 11-20 start at a school he quarterbacked to a national championship back in 1997.
