Purdue will be looking for a new defensive coordinator this offseason.

The Boilermakers have parted ways with defensive coordinator Bob Diaco after just one season, the program announced Thursday morning.

Head coach Jeff Brohm hired Diaco last offseason from Louisiana Tech. Prior to that he served as an analyst and outside linebackers coach for Oklahoma.

Diaco has been on a bit of a journey recently, the Purdue was his fifth stop in the last five years. In addition to La Tech and Oklahoma, he’s also coached for Nebraska and UConn since 2016.

Diaco’s firing was certainly warranted. Purdue finished No. 13 in passing defense and generally regressed over the course of the year. His defense allowed 37 points in back-to-back weeks to Rutgers and Nebraska to end the year.

Brohm’s next defensive coordinator hire will be his third in three years. Diaco replaced Nick Holt, who is now coaching in Italy.

Purdue’s season is over pending a bowl invitation. The Boilermakers went 2-4 this season.
