Here’s what Ryan Day said during his weekly radio show

It’s been a challenging season mentally for Ohio State but there’s still the chance to cap it off with a national title.
Ohio State will face Northwestern in the B1G title game on Saturday (11 a.m. CST/FOX). Ohio State has had three games cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns but the B1G changed its rules to allow them into the conference championship game.
Ohio State coach Ryan Day held his weekly radio on Thursday. Here’s a sampling of what Day said in advance of the showdown against Northwestern.

Ryan Day said he “gets a little choked up” thinking about how his son RJ hasn’t been able to spend time around the team this year because of the pandemic.

Ryan Day said Haskell Garrett ran outside, made a snowball and threw it at Day during practice yesterday. I’m assuming because the Big Ten coaches voted Garrett third-team All-Big Ten, and Day was the coach in closest proximity.

Ryan Day said he and Gene Smith have had “quick conversations” about the Big Ten’s 21-day rule and said Smith is in discussions about whether that rule could be changed. Right now Day is focused on trying to win Saturday’s Big Ten Championship Game, then they’ll worry about that.

Ryan Day acknowledges that it “wears us out” to have to constantly be worried about COVID-19 and the impact it can have on the team.

Ohio State has won the conference championship game the last three seasons and has captured the B1G title 38 times overall. This will be a rematch of the 2018 B1G title game in which Ohio State defeated Northwestern 45-24.
