Staying home: Wisconsin unveils dramatic recap of thrilling Axe Game victory

While the list of things that are different are many this B1G season, a few things have remained the same.

By notching their 23rd win in the past 25 games against rival Minnesota, Wisconsin assured that Paul Bunyon’s Axe will remain in Madison once again.

But it took more than four quarters to do it.

The UW defense held firm against the Gophers in overtime, after allowing Minnesota to tie the game at 17 late in the fourth quarter. After Minnesota kicker Anders Gelecinskyj missed a 36-yard field goal in OT, Badgers senior Garrett Groshek drove the ball forward on five plays to set up junior kicker Colin Larsh.

In the end, the Axe stayed with the Badgers another year after Larsh drilled the 30-yard field goal to win the game.

In the spirit of celebration, and rubbing in a good old rivalry win, the Badgers released a spirited recap on their Twitter page Sunday.
