Tis the season for transfers. Just look at Maryland defensive back Antwaine Richardson.

The Delray Beach, Florida, native appears to be on the move as it emerged on Monday that he has entered the transfer portal. He has been a regular in the Terps secondary in recent years.

Richardson came to College Park as a three-star recruit despite missing his senior year of high school due to injury. He joined Maryland after receiving offers form other schools such as Michigan, Wisconsin, West Virginia and Miami.

After a freshman season in 2016 where he didn’t do much, Richardson made three starts as a sophomore and appeared in nine games. He finished the year with 22 tackles and registered a tackle for loss.

In 2018, he appeared in all 12 games and started 10 of them. He finished fifth on the team in tackles while also recording his first interception at the collegiate level.

After a career year in 2018, Richardson was injured in 2019 and took a medical redshirt. He returned in 2020 where he posted a career-best nine tackles against Indiana earlier this season.

Based on current rules, it appears that Richardson has two more years of eligibility. It’s unclear whether he’ll be able to play right away at his next school.
