Northwestern DE decides to enter NCAA transfer portal

After three seasons at Northwestern, defensive lineman Andrew Leota is on his way out of Evanston.
News broke Monday that Leota has entered the transfer portal. He’s part of a myriad of players making their way to the portal as the end of the 2020 season nears.

Leota enrolled at Northwestern in the spring of 2018. He was a three-star prospect and the 23rd best player in North Carolina at the time, according to 247Sports. His grandfather, Jim, is an alum who earned his medical degree at Northwestern.
Despite enrolling early, Leota did not see the field as a true freshman in 2018.
A year later, he appeared in 10 games. He finished with 2.5 sacks and forced a fumble in the Wildcats’ game against Purdue in 2019.
In 2020, Leota saw the field but did not do so on a regular basis. He did not make his first start of his collegiate career until the regular-season finale against Illinois. His best game of the season likely came against Purdue when he forced a fumble and earned two sacks.
