Tempers flare: Fight breaks out after cheap shot during Myrtle Beach Bowl

During Monday’s inaugural Myrtle Beach Bowl, tempers flared after North Texas quarterback Jason Bean took a hit to the head while sliding from Appalachian State defensive back Steven Jones during a third-and-one play in the second quarter.

Bean faked a handoff, keeping the ball on a quarterback run from the App State 19-yard line, and began to slide before Jones came in with a high hit.
Defending his QB, O-lineman Jacob Farrell pushed Jones off and tried to help Bean up, and App State outside linebacker took exception, shoving back.
Mean Green junior running back Tre Siggers approached Jones, pushing him in the back, and the whole thing snowballed from there. As more players from each team started pushing and shoving, benches cleared.
Bean left the game after the play, presumably under concussion protocol for an examination.
