Report: Utah RB, Pac-12 Freshman of the year has died

Utah running back and Pac-12 Freshman of the Year Ty Jordan has reportedly died. Multiple sources close to Jordan, as well as True Buzz Athletics is reporting that the freshman was killed in a shooting.

According to Jake Edmonds of KUTV, the Denton Police Department in Texas said that Jordan was killed after a gun in his possession accidentally discharged.

A woman claiming to be Jordan’s cousin wrote a message on Facebook saying that Jordan had been shot and killed. Several of Jordan’s teammates and friends commented on his death on social media, as well.

Jordan was named the Pac-12 Offensive Freshman of the Year after a strong season with the Utes. He totaled 597 yards and 6 touchdowns on 83 carries this season. Jordan also added 11 catches for 126 yards.

At the end of the season, Jordan was also named an All-Pac-12 second-team player for his efforts.

From Mesquite, Texas, Jordan was a 3-star running back as a member of Utah’s 2020 recruiting class. He was ranked as the No. 8 all-purpose back of the cycle and was one of the Top 500 overall players in the class, regardless of position.
