One of the top quarterbacks in college football has made a decision about his future. And for fans in Miami, it’s some pretty good news.
Saturday morning, Miami quarterback D’Eriq King announced that he has decided to return to the Hurricanes for the 2021 season. He will not enter his name in the NFL Draft and will work on making Miami a contender in the ACC and College Football Playoff next season.
King finished his first season at Miami after transferring in from Houston. His arrival helped dramatically improve a Hurricanes offense that struggled mightily in the past two seasons. The QB posted a video on social media to make his announcement.

King threw for 2,573 yards and 22 touchdowns with just 5 interceptions while completing passes at a 63.6% clip. He also rushed for 520 yards and reached the end zone 4 times on the ground.
Miami was ranked inside the College Football Playoff Top 10 for a good chunk of the season, with the loss to Clemson serving as the only blemish on the resume for most of the year. However, the ‘Canes dropped significantly after a 62-26 loss to North Carolina to close out the season.
The Hurricanes ended the year with an 8-2 record.
Miami is scheduled to play Oklahoma State (7-3) in the Cheez-It Bowl on Tuesday, Dec. 29 to close out the season.
