Former Iowa Hawkeyes George Kittle and C.J. Beathard helped lead the 49ers to a surprising upset over the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday evening.
The 49ers won the game 20-12 thanks to three touchdown passes from Beathard. He started the game in place of the injured Jimmy Garoppolo.
Beathard 13-of-22 passes for 182 yards and those three touchdowns. Running back Jeff Wilson was also a major contributor, running the ball 22 times for 183 yards. He also caught Beathard’s first touchdown of the game.

Kittle was also outstanding. He caught four passes for 92 yards in his first game since Nov. 1. He had been recovering from a foot injury.
His return with just two games left in the season was a bit surprising given the 49ers are firmly out of the playoff hunt. However, Kittle didn’t want to sit out of any game that he was healthy enough to play.
This was Kittle’s first catch of the day:

The result is a big boost for the Chicago Bears’ playoff chances. If the Bears defeat the Jaguars on Sunday, they will be tied with the Cardinals for the final playoff spot in the NFC, and they hold the tiebreaker.
The 49ers will close out their 2020 season next week against the Seattle Seahawks.
