Former Iowa quarterback C.J. Beathard had a big Saturday afternoon, leading the San Francisco 49ers win over the Arizona Cardinals while honoring his late brother in the process.
A year ago, Beathard’s brother was stabbed and killed outside a bar in Nashville. On Saturday afternoon, the 49ers quarterback wore a black jacket with the word “King” written on the side, along with a picture of his brother, Clayton, on the opposite side.
According to ESPN, the jacket was a gift from the pastor near Long Island University, where Clayton attended college. Beathard also cut his hair for the first time in a year.
One year after CJ Beatherd’s brother was murdered while home from college on Christmas break, Beatherd started at quarterback for the 49ers and then wore a jacket honoring his brother to the post game press conference. https://t.co/3Xg1piZiLX

Beathard was emotional after the game. It was the one-year anniversary since his brother had been killed in Nashville. Not only did he earn the start against the Cardinals, he led the Niners to a victory.
On Saturday in the 49ers win over the Cardinals, Beathard was 13-of-22 for 182 passing yards with three passing touchdowns.
