The end of 2020 has been good to Evanston, Illinois – no kidding.
We all know that Northwestern’s football team had a breakout season, playing for the B1G Championship against Ohio State and taking the Buckeyes into the second half to come away with a hard fought 22-10 loss.
As the Wildcats prepare for Auburn and their matchup in the Citrus Bowl, the Northwestern basketball teams have been making some noise as well.
The men’s basketball team finished last season 8-23, including a 3-17 conference record and most experts had them pegged for last in the B1G this season.
Don’t look now, but the Wildcats are off to a 3-0 start, with wins over Michigan State, Indiana and Ohio State.
With their start, the Wildcats have jumped to No. 19 in the most recent AP Top-25 Poll.
This week’s AP women’s basketball top 25 poll has the Wildcats ranked No. 15, keeping their same position as last week as Joe McKeown’s squad added a comfortable win over Eastern Kentucky.
With the men’s basketball entering the AP Top 25 rankings for the first time since it was ranked 20th in November 2017, all three active Northwestern teams are simultaneously ranked in their respective top 25 polls for the first time ever.
The Wildcats are the only Division I school that can say that right now.
This makes Northwestern the only D1 school with top-20 teams in all three sports. The Wildcats stand alone. https://t.co/C244WY0oTJ
