Justin Fields addresses thumb injury ahead of Ohio State’s Sugar Bowl showdown vs. Clemson

Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields injured his thumb during the Buckeyes 22-10 victory over Northwestern in the B1G Championship Game.
The next day, head coach Ryan Day told reporters that Fields’ thumb “will be fine” and during today’s Zoom conferences in preparation for this week’s Sugar Bowl, Fields said “I’ll be good to go Friday night.”

It was a rough day for the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year against Northwestern, as Fields was just 12-of-27 for 114 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions while taking three sacks. The Buckeyes offense struggled to gain traction against a stout Northwestern defense for much of the contest.
Officially, Ohio State is just 24-26 all-time in bowl games, and the record excludes one appearance in the Sugar Bowl against Arkansas in 2011. That OSU win has been vacated due to NCAA sanctions. Removing that game from the record, OSU has a record of 2-3 officially in bowl games played inside the Superdome.
Also, Ohio State is also 0-4 all-time in bowl games against Clemson.
The Sugar Bowl kicks off Friday, Jan. 1, 2021 at 8:00PM.
