Redemption: College GameDay runs awesome feature on Ohio State CB Shaun Wade

Ohio State defensive back Shaun Wade has been on quite the journey over the last year.
From a tempting NFL decision to COVID-19 and other adversity, Wade has experienced quite a bit since last season’s meeting with Clemson in the College Football Playoff.
In some ways, that journey started with one play in the first half against the Tigers. Ohio State built an early 16-0 lead, but the momentum of the game changed when Wade was ejected for targeting after a hit on Trevor Lawrence.
On Friday night, Wade will get the chance at redemption. That was the subject of a College GameDay feature from ESPN that ran on Friday morning.

Lawrence was interviewed for the story, and shared a similar sentiment to many Ohio State fans since the play happened — Wade shouldn’t have been ejected.
“I just hate to see a great player like him have to miss the rest of the game,” Lawrence said. “I see maybe a penalty, whatever, but that’s kind of tough.”
Lawrence ended up throwing for 259 yards and two touchdowns as the Tigers won the game, 29-23.
Wade also described the feeling of watching the remainder of the game from the locker room, including Justin Fields’ game-sealing interception.
“It wasn’t pleasant at all,” he said. “I’m trying to call plays in the locker room, what they’re about to run.”
“I heard the crowd noise, but I thought we scored. And then when you see it on the TV, I was devastated. Tears coming down before everybody came in the locker room.”
Wade will get his shot at redemption vs. Lawrence and the Tigers at 8 p.m. ET.
