The talk about Jim Harbaugh’s future as Michigan’s head coach is heating up, and reports are that Harbaugh will be around Ann Arbor for a while.

According to FOX Sports College Football reporter Bruce Feldman, there is a contract extension running through 2026 for Harbaugh in the works.

The Michigan 2021 recruiting class has already been secured, and Harbaugh’s discussions with UM athletic director Warde Manuel about a contract extension have been widely reported. The news comes as the Wolverines closed out the 2020 season with a 2-4 record. They could not play any of the final three games (Maryland, Ohio State and Iowa) due to COVID-19 issues.

Harbaugh’s $8 million salary for 2020 was ranked fourth among college football head coaches in total payment.

Before the 2020 season, Harbaugh led the Wolverines to five consecutive winning season, but has been widely criticized for a winless streak against rival Ohio State.
