Ever since Urban Meyer left the Ohio State head coaching job, his name seems to be in just about every single major football opening.

That’s certainly true in the college world, just see what happened with the Texas opening. Now, it appears NFL teams are in on bringing in Meyer.

The team that seems like the most likely landing spot is Jacksonville. It appears that both sides are interested in this happening. We learned on Saturday that Meyer is reportedly taking steps in preparing to become the next Jaguar head coach.

Based on reporting from Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Meyer has begun building a potential staff that he would bring along with him to Jacksonville. It seems that you’d only be doing that if you were realistically considering taking the job.

At this point, Doug Marrone is still the head man in Jacksonville. But after this season, he seems like a dead man walking.

Meyer has talked about coaching in the NFL before, including the Dallas Cowboy job. However, this job seems like a good fit for the former Florida, Utah, Ohio State and Bowling Green coach. The team is certainly rebuilding and will likely start next season with Trevor Lawrence at quarterback.

Before we get too ahead of ourselves, this job is still not officially Meyer’s. Jacksonville is reportedly considering other candidates, including Ryan Day, who succeeded Meyer at Ohio State.
