It has been a busy offseason for a number of Spartans, and another Michigan State player is reportedly checking out the transfer portal.

According to Rainer Sabin with the Detroit Free Press, wide receiver Tre’von Morgan is entering the portal. Morgan was a member of the 2019 recruiting class and recorded his first career touchdown in the game against Penn State:

Morgan was a three-star recruit out of Ohio. He was rated as the No. 56 WR for the class and the No. 17 player from Ohio for 2019. Listed at 6-foot-6, Morgan was an intriguing recruit for the Spartans.

Morgan did not appear in action in 2019 and his lack of action in 2020 could have impacted the decision. He also held offers from Iowa State, Cincinnati, Ball State, and Akron, among others.

It has certainly been an odd first season for Mel Tucker in East Lansing. After getting hired in February, he had just about one month on the job before the pandemic wrecked his initial offseason with the Spartans.

After a two-win season, including upsets of Michigan and Northwestern, he will try to use this offseason to put his stamp on the team’s makeup for 2021.
