One former Boilermaker will not finish this year’s basketball season, choosing instead to sign with an agent and pursue the 2021 NBA Draft.

That player is Nojel Eastern who had three seasons with Purdue. After transferring to Howard, Eastern was rehabbing from foot surgery and had not seen action yet.

Now, instead of trying to get back into playing shape at Howard, he announced he will focus his sights on the goal of entering the 2021 NBA Draft. Here is Eastern’s announcement from his Twitter account:

Eastern appeared in 104 games with 62 starts in his Boilermaker career. He finished his time at Purdue with per-game averages of 5.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 0.9 blocks.

At Purdue, Eastern shot 47% from the floor but was disastrous from long range. He also shot just 56% from the free-throw line.

Eastern’s biggest attribute came on the defensive end of the floor with him earning two B1G All-Defense nominations. While his offensive numbers do not jump off the page, he has intriguing size at 6-foot-7 and a knack on the defensive end of the floor. It will be interesting to see what happens for him moving forward.
