Report: Jim Harbaugh ‘actively working’ to land NFL job, delaying Michigan extension

Jim Harbaugh’s pursuit of an NFL job is a primary reason why his extension with Michigan remains unsigned, according to a report.
That’s per Jordan Strack of WTOL 11 in Toledo, Ohio.
A source tells me Jim Harbaugh has been actively working to find a NFL job. That has been the #1 thing holding him up on him signing an extension at Michigan.
This isn’t exactly the most shocking news, but his desire right now is certainly to return to the NFL.

That’s in line with other reports from earlier this offseason about Harbaugh’s desire to return to the NFL. He previously was the head coach of the San Fransisco 49ers from 2011-14.
It was reported earlier this week that Harbaugh is expected to sign an extension with the Wolverines despite a rocky sixth season. Michigan went just 2-4 this season.
There are currently six NFL jobs open for Harbaugh to try to land: Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Chargers, Houston Texans, Atlanta Falcons, New York Jets and the Detroit Lions.
Former Ohio State coach Urban Meyer is currently being linked with the Jaguars job.
Each of those jobs either has a franchise quarterback already in place or a top five pick in the upcoming draft, so it’s an attractive cycle for NFL jobs.
Harbaugh is 49-22 overall in six seasons as Michigan’s head coach.
