As they get set to clash with Alabama in Monday’s national championship game, the Ohio State secondary received some positive news for next season on Wednesday.

Senior defensive back Marcus Williamson announced that he’s returning to Ohio State for one final season. Williamson explained to Buckeyextra reporter Bill Rabinowitz why he made the decision.

Williamson is able to play an extra year because of the NCAA’s decision to not have the 2020 season count against eligibility. Williamson is the first Ohio State player to exercise this option.

Williamson will enter next season as the most experienced cornerback on Ohio State’s roster. Williamson has played 362 snaps this season, according to Eleven Warriors. Williamson has amassed 25 tackles this season.

The Westerville, Ohio, native was a consensus 4-star prospect who spent his final season of high school at football power IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL.
