The COVID-19 bug has hit Penn State hard, and that means the Nittany Lions are starting to miss games.

The program has paused all team-related activities due to positive COVID-19 tests. That means the team will not be playing for at least the next six days.

The missing games start with a game against Ohio State that was scheduled for Wednesday. Based on the tweet, it’s clear that the team will also miss its next two games. That includes Saturday’s game against Michigan and the game after that scheduled for Jan. 12 against Rutgers. Penn State also had a game against Wisconsin scheduled for Jan. 3 postponed.

It’s unclear how long the Nittany Lions will have to pause activities. Unlike football, the Big Ten is allowing teams to reschedule games that are postponed in basketball.

This season has had its ups and downs for Penn State. The Nittany Lions currently sit at 3-4 and 0-3 in the Big Ten. To Penn State’s credit, the Nittany Lions had a lion’s den of an opening part of the schedule with games against Michigan and Illinois.

Penn State nearly got Big Ten win No. 1 in its most recent game on Dec. 30 against Indiana. The Hoosiers eked out an 87-85 win.
