Report: SEC program investigating itself for possible recruiting violations

Tennessee is reportedly putting its program on hold while it investigates potential recruiting violations made by coach Jeremy Pruitt and his assistant coaches.
That’s per ESPN’s Mark Schlabach, who says the Vols are implementing a hiring freeze while it determines the extent of its issues.
According to ESPN, attorneys Mike Glazier and Kyle Skillman have spent the last week interviewing current players about possible improper benefits they received as recruits.
Per Schlabach, the recruitment of 5-star offensive line prospect Amarius Mims is one of the issues at hand. Mims ended up signing with Georgia.
Pruitt just finished his third year as the Vols head coach and has an overall record of 16-19.
This investigation — and hiring freeze — is putting his offseason plans on hold. According to FootballScoop, Pruitt would have attempted to hire former Auburn assistants Kevin Steele and Rodney Garner if he was allowed to proceed as normal.
If not fired for cause, Pruitt’s buyout would be 60 percent of what’s left on his contract. Pruitt is currently under contract through 2025.
