As a former coach in both the Big Ten and SEC, Urban Meyer is plenty familiar with Ohio State and Alabama.

Besides his coaching acumen, Meyer is also a college football analyst for FOX and has seen these teams play plenty during the 2020 season. As Meyer and the rest of us begin to put in our predictions for Monday’s national championship game, here’s how he sees things playing out.

Meyer expressed his belief that this game will be high scoring on FOX’s Breaking the Huddle with Joel Klatt.

“They win the game because of fundamentals, great players, great technique and working your tendencies,” Meyer said, via 247Sports. “Clemson was more of a ‘we’re going to disrupt you, be all over the place, create a bunch of different looks for you. Alabama is going to line up and play. They disguise a little bit, but not a lot. So it’s going to be a much different game.”

With that in mind, Meyer is confident in the Buckeye offense, led by quarterback Justin Fields.

“I think Ohio State is going to score some points,” he said. “I saw Florida do it, I saw Ole Miss do it and I think Ohio State is better than those two teams offensively.”

As for Alabama’s offense and the Ohio State defense, Meyer believes that’s a different story as no one has yet to show they can really slow down Mac Jones and the Crimson Tide offense.

“I haven’t seen anyone even come close to slowing that down,” Meyer said. “You have three—I think–Heisman winners…So this will be a high-scoring game.”

Meyer’s reasoning seems correct, and if there’s someone who knows what it takes for Ohio State to defeat Alabama in the CFP, it’s Meyer.
