College Football Playoff executive director Bill Hancock has finally talked about the potential of expanding the playoff field.

There’s been a lot of uproar each season about expanding it from four teams to potentially eight or even 16 as it’s been almost the same four teams playing each year that it’s been going.

Hancock talked to the Sports Business Journal and said that four teams are fine for the playoff, despite thinking about the future:

After he had that to say, he said that if they do expand the College Football Playoff, the decision wouldn’t be made because of money:

Even though Hancock said that the decision wouldn’t be about money, it’s hard not to think that it will be. More teams playing in the playoff means more revenue for the sport.

Next year’s playoff will likely have the same format of the four teams but it may not be long after that we’ll see an expansion.
