One of Penn State’s top offensive performers from the 2020 season has decided to return to Happy Valley.
Thursday evening, Nittany Lions leading receiver Jahan Dotson announced on Twitter that he plans to return to State College for the 2021 season. That’s big news for Penn State, as Dotson was one of the most talented players at his position in the B1G last season.
“I’ll be back in 2021 to give y’all the summary,” Dotson wrote on Twitter, along with sharing a video to make his announcement. “Chapter 4.”

Dotson was the conference’s leading receiver for the 2020 season, totaling a league-best 884 yards on 52 receptions in 9 games at Penn State. He also hauled in 8 touchdown passes.
But Dotson’s talent stretches past the numbers. Many times throughout the season, Dotson displayed incredible athleticism by beating defenders for jump balls and torching secondaries deep on long passes. His presence should serve as a significant advantage for Penn State, as it looks to bounce back following a 4-5 campaign.
In three seasons at Penn State, Dotson has totaled 92 catches for 1,575 yards and 13 touchdowns. This past season, he emerged as the Nittany Lions’ top target after KJ Hamler declared for the NFL Draft after the 2019 season.
Technically, Dotson has two years of eligibility remaining at Penn State because of the NCAA’s blanket waiver for the 2020 season. A good year next fall, though, and it’s likely the Penn State WR can head to the NFL Draft.
