Even though Smiley was at Purdue for five years, he only played on the field for four of them. His best season came during 2019 when he had 27 total tackles (19 solo) with one interception and a sack. He also had three passes defended for that season.
This past season, his numbers went down a bit as he had just 10 total tackles (nine solo). His 2018 season ended up being his second-best season as he had 23 total tackles (18 solo) with seven passes defended and one interception.
Smiley was part of the recruiting class of 2016 and was considered a three-star prospect on 247Sports. He was ranked as the 159th best cornerback recruit in the country and the 227th ranked player out of Florida.
