Michael Thomas found the end zone early in the New Orleans Saints game with the Chicago Bears on Sunday afternoon.

Surprisingly, the score is Thomas’ first touchdown since Week 16, of the 2019 season.

Sidelined for much of the 2020 season with injuries, the Saints are expecting Thomas to be as healthy as he has been since the opening week. Thomas missed nine games this season, and has only been on the field for 10 quarters with Saints quarterback Drew Brees. Brees also missed four games due to a punctured lung and 11 broken ribs.

“That’s hard to believe,” Brees said of the limited time he has spent on the field with Thomas, his go-to receiver. “And, again, a testament to our team and all the guys that have stepped up and played such a pivotal role here.

“I’m excited to have Mike back. Excited for Alvin with what he’s gone through recently, and just for our whole squad.”

In addition to Thomas, the Saints have running back Alvin Kamara and receiver Deonte Harris back for a potential playoff run.

Thomas’ touchdown gave the Saints an early 7-0 lead over the Bears.
