Tonight in Miami, the Alabama Crimson Tide and Ohio State Buckeyes meet in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game. If you’re looking to wager on the action, well, you’re in the right place with this Alabama-Ohio State betting prop preview.

All eyes of the football world will be on this title tilt tonight, so let’s take a closer look at some of the best Alabama-Ohio State prop picks and bets.

Preview

It will be a battle of unbeatens tonight in Miami when the Ohio State Buckeyes and Alabama Crimson Tide face off with a national championship on the line. While nobody is surprised by Alabama’s appearance in this game, Ohio State’s presence is a bit of a surprise. Ohio State steamrolled Clemson in a 49-28 blowout win to reach the final against Alabama, who’s in this game following a comfortable 31-14 win over Notre Dame.

In the hours following the semifinal round, oddsmakers installed Alabama as a seven-point favorite. In the days leading up to the game, however, the point spread has ballooned to between 8.5 and 9 points at most legal online sportsbooks. Without question, the Buckeyes were impressive against the Tigers, but they will be up against it tonight as they try to slow down a Crimson Tide offense averaging 48.2 points per game.

Alabama vs. Ohio State Odds

Here’s the line for the Buckeyes vs. Crimson Tide at DraftKings Sportsbook:

Alabama vs. Ohio State Player Props

Ohio State Running Back Trey Sermon OVER 26.5 yards (FanDuel Sportsbook)

Evaluating Sermon’s 2020 season as it relates to this prop is a waste of time, since it appears the Oklahoma transfer seemingly showed up in Columbus just as the team was preparing for the Big Ten Championship Game against Northwestern. Through Ohio State’s first five games, Sermon totaled just five catches for 30 yards.

While he generated three catches against the Wildcats, those grabs resulted in just four yards. He was finally efficiently utilized in the passing game against Clemson with a four-catch, 61-yard performance. While I wouldn’t expect a repeat performance tonight, Sermon has been targeted 10 times over the last two games, which means there’s an obvious increased focus on his usage in the passing game.

There’s some value on this number with FanDuel at 26.5 yards. Comparatively, the total is 32.5 yards at DraftKings. Grab the value and lock in the over here.

Mac Jones Under 10.5 Rushing Yards (-157, DraftKings Sportsbook)

Mac Jones is a lot of great things as a quarterback, but a runner he is not. Jones surpassed 10 rushing yards just once all season–and that came on a five-carry, 12-yard performance against Notre Dame. For the season, Jones has tallied three yards on 31 carries.

Keep in mind, sacks count against rushing totals in college football, so a multi-sack effort by the Buckeyes solid pass rushing front should ensure this number stays under the total.

Mac Jones Over 380.5 Yards Passing (+100, DraftKings Sportsbook)

Jones has eclipsed 380.5 yards in 6 of his 12 starts, including a 418-yard performance against Florida in the SEC Championship Game.

Notably, in seven games this season, the Buckeyes have yielded just 89.1 rushing yards per game (No. 2 in the nation) and 3.2 yards per attempt (No. 9 in the nation). Certainly, Ohio State hasn’t been tested by a back like Najee Harris, but this sets up as a game in which Alabama will need to move the football effectively through the air. There’s little reason to believe that Jones, with a plethora of explosive options at his disposal, won’t do just that.

With a game total set at a staggering 74.5 points, oddsmakers expect points, and in order to approach such a lofty total, the guess here is that Jones will lead the way with another big night passing.
