Jake Seibert probably did not envision lining up for this kick when he started the season, but he nailed the short field goal anyway.
The freshman kicker for Ohio State has seen action this season as starting kicker Blake Haubeil dealt with an injury earlier in the year. Entering Monday, Seibert had nailed 13-of-13 extra-point attempts, but he had missed his only field goal attempt of the season.
Fortunately, he was pure in the second quarter, nailing his first career field goal in the biggest game of his young life. Check it out:

Seibert is forced into action for the National Championship Game as Haubeil announced that he is missing the game due to COVID-19. That is a tough blow to the Buckeyes, but hopefully Seibert continues to kick well when called upon.
Right now, Ohio State needs more help than on special teams. The defense has struggled to contain Alabama’s explosive offense with Heisman winner DeVonta Smith continually torching the Buckeyes.
