Report: NFL franchise with ties to Ryan Day has interest in hiring Ohio State head coach

With Ohio State’s season officially ending on Monday night, Ryan Day’s name is circulating as a candidate for an NFL vacancy.
On Wednesday morning, NBCSports’ John Clark reported that the Philadelphia Eagles are interested in Day as a potential candidate for their head coaching job. The franchise fired previous head coach Doug Pederson following a 4-11 season in 2020. It was the first time in since 2016 the Eagles did not reach the playoffs.
Day’s name as surfaced as a potential candidate for jobs in the NFL mildly, but he’s reportedly denied any interest in leaving Ohio State for the NFL. However, Day does have some ties to the Philadelphia organization.
In 2015, Day was the quarterbacks coach in Philadelphia in 2015 while Chip Kelly was still the head coach. Day then went to be the quarterbacks coach with the San Francisco 49ers in 2016 before joining the Ohio State staff in 2017.
Day has already proven to be an elite-level head coach in the college game, leading Ohio State to back-to-back B1G titles and College Football Playoff appearances. In his two seasons as the permanent head coach in Columbus, Day has compiled a 20-2 record.
Ohio State reached the College Football Playoff National Championship Game this season.
