Speedy WR with ties to Michigan State coach Mel Tucker enters transfer portal

A marquee name entered the transfer portal Wednesday and the speculation surrounding where he might go has an early Big Ten theme to this one.
K.D. Nixon, a four-year receiver from the University of Colorado has entered the transfer portal. He’s a name that is well-thought of in the college football world. And with his ties to the Buffaloes, there’s already speculation he might reunite with his former coach, Mel Tucker.

Nixon has played four years in college but the 2020 season did not count against his eligibility as is the case for all NCAA athletes during the 2020-21 school year.
The Texas native departs from Colorado after showing himself to be a major threat in any passing attack.

Now the electronic ink has barely dried on Nixon’s spot in the transfer portal, so the folks in East Lansing wanting Nixon shouldn’t get too far ahead of themselves. This process may take a while.
In his first three seasons in Boulder, Nixon recorded 89 catches for 1,128 yards and seven touchdowns. That put him in the record books near the top for many of the school’s receiving records.
During the 2020 shortened season, had 15 catches for 132 yards but failed to record a touchdown last season. Playing a full schedule in 2021 could help up those numbers.
